Good Faith Estimate Notice (Clients not using insurance): You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

Paying for Therapy
Out of Pocket: Paying for therapy out of pocket offers the highest degree of privacy and choice. Not only is this the most confidential (because an insurance company is not involved), but your therapist will not be required to provide a mental health diagnosis to your health insurance. Additionally, your treatment will not be affected by any changes in your health insurance plan.
FSA/HSA/HRA Accounts: This option includes using funds from a flexible spending account (FSA), a health saving account (HSA), or a health reimbursement account (HRA). All of which allow you to use pre-tax dollars to pay for therapy. The organization or bank who administers the FSA/HSA account will know about your therapy charges, but otherwise this is a fairly confidential way to engage in treatment.
Out of Network Insurance: I can provide a Superbill to individuals have the option to get treatment from providers who are out of network with their insurance. Please keep in mind some insurance plans require a deductible to be paid prior to reimbursement. You may be required to pay for treatment first, then be reimbursed. This option requires the therapist to submit a diagnosis to your insurance company. Speaking to a representative from your insurance company will help you understand if this is an ideal option for your treatment.
In Network Insurance: As an in network provider, much of your treatment may be covered by your insurance if I am able to take your insurance. Keep in mind, you may first have a deductible. Also, insurance companies require a diagnosis for treatment. Additionally, your treatment may be interrupted due to limits of coverage or changes in your insurance.
